It's a shame they won't do what other companies do though and realisticly scale the prices. I was excited to see the $10 price tag of a Mudbox subscription from Autodesk, only to see that there is no such option available in the UK at least the last time I looked into it, although there is an EU option at 10 Euros, so fingers crossed that it gets to the UK with a £10 per month price tag.

I will follow this on Steam just to keep my eyes open for an update on the other subscription options coming to steam. Not a huge difference in this instance though, so it's not that bad. Sadly with Autodesk products the pricing for the US is usually a lot friendlier too, £25 for the UK and $30 for the US. I would love to see the 'Quarterly' and or 'Yearly' subscription options added! I'd feel a lot more comfortable paying £205 a year than £25 a month or the £65 per quarter, that way I feel more secure with it and I know I have some time between payments and such.

We aren’t really allowed to speculate on future development or deployment of other license versions or other products. Q: Will other license version of Maya LT be made available on Steam? Will 3ds Max, or AutoCAD, or other Autodesk products be put on Steam?Ī: For the time being, we’re just going to have Maya LT as a monthly subscription plan on Steam.

You can use it to make assets for your own commercial games. It is not limited to Steam games, modding, or other workshop stuff.

This means that there is no commercial restriction to how you use Maya LT. We will keep the Maya LT Steam Store page updated as to which version is on Steam, as we release new updates. We brought the same version of Maya LT to Steam. Q: Is Maya LT on Steam different from the regular version of Maya LT available through the Autodesk E-Store or a reseller?Ī: Nope. It’s all about looking at your usage, doing the math, and figuring out which license makes more sense for you. If you have a project that will only be 2-4 months and don’t know when the next project will happen, it might be cheaper to just do the monthly subscription option. We’ve found that, for many indie game makers, it just doesn’t make sense to pay the huge amount up front.
